Where the International Gas Industry Meets the Australian Decision Makers

Inaugural Australia Gas Conference Opens with Great Success

The inaugural CWC / IGU Australia Gas Conference successfully launched in Sydney, on 31 October 2011, running til 02 November, with over 150 senior gas executives in attendance including key players from China, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan and beyond.

Officially opened by the New South Wales Energy Minister, Honourable Chris Hartcher, the conference provided thought provoking insights into market dynamics in Australia and the wider global context and shone a spotlight on both West Coast and East Coast upstream developments and the fast moving CSG industry and Floating LNG.

The conference went on to review the global market including the key Asian buyers.  China’s views on Shale production revised critical questions regarding the viability of Australian projects and the conference also examined the potential impact of increased supply options from North America and East Africa.

The conference was a truly strategic view of Australia’s gas market and how it interplays globally. The industry is now looking forward to 2012, with very exciting times ahead.

CWC would like to thank the International Gas Union (IGU), Australia Gas Industry Trust (AGIT), NSW Government, sponsors and distinguished speakers who supported Australia Gas 2011.
